a central point of reference for the students, was to be installed by request of the client. A former lab building at that spot was remodeled and renovated by us.
While the construction of the two upper floors was mostly left intact, the first floor called for more substantial changes, so as to accommodate the extensive service area: supporting concrete pre-fabricated wall segments needed to be supported and replaced by steel framing, including an adjustment of the foundation and replacement of the entire interior fittings.
Thus, the existing structure was made usable and functually designed through few, but effective measures, in keeping with the relatively low building budget at our disposal. The project was carried out in close cooperation with students and staff of the Department of Architecture.
